Martha Batalha is the author of two novels, The Invisible Life or Euridice Gusmão and The Castle of Ipanema. The film based on her first novel - Invisible Life - an RT Features production directed by Karim Ainouz, debuted internationally in Cannes 2019, where it won Un Certain Regard’s Award and was Brazil’s submission for the Oscars 2019. Prior to her writing career, Martha was a reporter and a publisher. 

 

She was longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award and Oceanos, and shortlisted for Jabuti and Premio São Paulo. Martha writes a biweekly column at the second largest newspaper in Brazil (Globo) and has been a contributor to Piaui Magazine. Her books have been published in over twenty countries and translated into several languages.  

 

Alvorada, her upcoming third book, had the movie rights sold to RT Features.
